Jonas was born blind with Peters anomaly (a rare sight disorder). His parents, Ben and Laura Harrison, couldn’t find stylish, durable, confidence-boosting glasses for him, so they created Jonas Paul Eyewear. This children’s eyewear brand now helps kids worldwide feel confident and beautiful and gives back through the “Buy Sight, Give Sight” program to prevent childhood blindness impacting over 1.4 million children to date. Now Jonas is channeling that same family spirit of turning challenges into strengths: he’s using his gift of perfect pitch and love of piano to launch his own piano tuning business.
Fun Fact : Jonas also has chromesthesia (sound-to-color synesthesia). He involuntarily experiences colors when he hears sounds or musical notes. This gift lets him hear when notes are even a couple cents out of tune. In music, a “cent” measures tiny pitch differences — there are 100 cents in a semitone and over 8,400 cents across a full 88-key piano. So he can hear and distinguish all 8,400 cents!
